FAQ

How is World War 2 Veteran defined?

A World War 2 veteran is a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service of the United States during World War 2 (between 7Dec1941 and 31Dec1946) and was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.

What’s with the date format?

The 2 most common date formats used during the World War 2 era were 7December1941 or 7Dec1941 instead of December 7, 1941. This was done to shorten the number of characters required, and to reduce errors. I chose to use the 7Dec1941 format to reflect the military service of the people honored on this site.

What is Hi-Y?

Hi-Y was a service organization affiliated with the Y.M.C.A. These descriptions of Hi-Y are from the pages of the 1943 Wizard yearbook.
