Leroy enlisted in the Army in August 1942. It is unknown where he attended basic training.

After basic training he attended the Coast Artillery Officer Candidate School at Camp Davis, North Carolina. Upon completing the school, Corporal Price was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant.

Records indicate that Leroy was assigned to the Headquarters Battery of the 132nd Anit-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. The 132nd sailed from the New York Port of Embarkation in July 1944 bound for England. After a short stay in England, they were sent to France in August.

The unit participated in several campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge. They fought in France, Luxemburg, Holland, and Germany.

The unit was disbanded in late 1945. It appears the Leroy stayed in Germany as part of the Allied occupation forces.

In January 1946 Leroy contracted Diphtheria. He died from the disease on January 28. He was originally buried in military cemetery in Europe.

In December 1948 Leroy’s remains were returned to the United Stated for reburial.

Reburial services for Leroy were held on 29Jan1949.
