Raymond enlisted on 6Jan1942.
In April 1942, likely after completing basic training, Raymond was transferred to the U.S. Naval Reserve Aviation Base at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, NY.

In June 1942 he was transferred to the Section Base in Tompkinsville, Staten Island, NY.

It is unknown what job Raymond held during this period, though a Yeoman typically performed administrative and clerical duties.
On 3April1943 Raymond was admitted to the Unted States Naval Hospital St. Albans in Queens, NY for an unspecified illness.

After nearly a month in the hospital, Raymond died of Pneumonia.

He is buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
